Vivico and OFB Projektentwicklung celebrate topping-out ceremony for the SKYGARDEN office building in Munich's Arnulfpark

Munich, 25 March 2010 - Vivico and OFB Projektentwicklung today held the topping-out ceremony for the SKYGARDEN office building in the Arnulfpark® quarters. They were joined by Munich's head of the municipal planning and building control office, Prof. Dr. (I) Elisabeth Merk, all the project participants and around 400 guests. The completion of the building, which is situated directly on the Hackerbrücke, is scheduled for summer 2011.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. (I) Elisabeth Merk revealed how impressed she was with the development of the Arnulfpark® quarters and the architecture of the SKYGARDEN office building: "The Arnulfpark is well on the way to becoming both an independent quarters with culture, shops, gastronomy, infrastructure installations, apartments and offices in addition to an attractive open space as well as a well networked building block in the urban fabric. The Arnulfpark project is a successful example of the ongoing co-operation between local authorities, project developers and investors. The high quality is also reflected in the architecture of the building. The Skygarden in particular with its high-quality architecture has every chance of becoming the new landmark of the quarters."
The building, which was designed by the architect's office Bothe Richter Teherani (BRT), is characterised by its sculptural, space-creating architecture and large winter gardens, which are visible from afar. At the same time, spacious courtyards, atria and balconies connect the internal and external areas of the building.
The building that has been mutually developed and realised by Vivico and OFB Projektentwicklung boasts a total of around 33,000 m² (355,209 square feet) of gross floor space above ground. Even before construction began, the auditing and consulting services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers had concluded a lease over around 17,500 m² (188,368 square feet) rental space. With its some 900 employees at the Munich office, the firm will be moving into the SKYGARDEN office building in 2011.
The SKYGARDEN office building is one of the last components in the new Arnulfpark® urban quarter with a total of around 252,000 m² (2,712,505 square feet) of gross floor space. In recent years, besides a 40,000 m² (430,556 square feet) park, the area has seen various developments, which include around 900 apartments, a number of office and commercial buildings such as the VELUM and the ATMOS, two hotels, retail outlets and restaurants in addition to a theatre.
