The new Erlenmatt Galerie and hotel will not only serve the users of the new urban district but also enhance the neighbouring areas of the city and the entire Kleinbasel area. In a February 2005 referendum, the people of Basel approved the zoning plan for the new urban district as well as the basic structure of the shopping centre.
Within the scope of their joint venture, several different service contracts define the two partners' specific areas of responsibility both during the planning and implementation phase as well as for subsequent operation.
As a specialist in urban retail development, Multi Development will be responsible for the design, development and marketing of Erlenmatt Galerie and Vivico will handle the development and leasing of the hotel areas. The goal is to begin construction of the complex in May 2009. Almost 28 months later, in September 2011, the new Erlenmatt Galerie shopping centre and hotel are scheduled to open their doors as appealing attractions for Erlenmatt and the surrounding districts.
