THREE YEARS OF THE NEW GALLERIA

Galleria shopping mall in 1030 Vienna celebrates three years since revitalisation

  • Multifaceted shopping experience with stylish programme of crowd-pulling events

  • Fashion and Entertainment Show plus anniversary campaigns on 10/11 October

The Galleria shopping centre on Landstrasser Hauptstrasse in Vienna celebrated its third anniversary on 10 October. Following a comprehensive programme of modernisation, the shopping centre in Vienna’s third district unveiled its shiny new look in October 2010. The product range had also been expanded significantly, attracting more shoppers than ever before. Celebrations were held on Thursday evening, with a Fashion and Entertainment Show featuring the band ABBAriginal. Many other anniversary campaigns took place in Galleria shops on 10 and 11 October.

In the words of Bruno Ettenauer, Chief Executive Officer of CA Immo, “In 2009 we set out to refurbish the Galleria extensively with a view to giving residents of the third district a modern mall. We are therefore delighted that nearly all the retail space has been let ever since the renovation and that footfall has been consistently high.”

Centre Manager for the Galleria Christine Mahrer adds, “Since the modernization, the Galleria has once again offered a diverse and stylish shopping experience that everyone connected with the centre feels good about. As well as an attractive mix of sectors, we offer a range of very popular events that appeal to the whole family. In other words, over the past three years the Galleria has reverted to what it originally was: a popular, modern, charismatic local centre that provides a kind of second living room for people living in the third district.”

A multifaceted shopping experience in stylish, modern surroundings

For more than 20 years the Galleria, which was built in 1990, has served as a focal point for its district and a local provider to a densely built-up catchment area of some 85,000 inhabitants. Between 2009 and 2010, the centre was converted and modernised according to the blueprints of A&GP International Architekt Brunner ZT Ges.m.b.H. The property has been wholly owned by Austrian real estate company CA Immo since the start of 2009. The centre provides approximately 14,500 sqm of rentable space on three levels and its own underground car park with around 400 spaces, plus one hour of free parking. The upper floors of the building house office space spanning roughly 11,500 sqm. The Galleria’s main advantages are its superbly central location on Landstrasser Hauptstrasse and its excellent ease of access (public transport via the U3 underground line, bus routes and underground car park). Visitors can look forward to a diverse yet balanced blend of stores including big names like Müller, DM, C&A, Humanic, Calzedonia, Tchibo/Eduscho and Depot along with welcoming eating areas, bookshops and a Spar Gourmet. The centre has always been utilised as a venue for fashion shows and other local events.
