Start of construction for the Isargärten Thalkirchen district, Munich

Munich, 21 October 2009 - Construction has started on Munich's new urban district Isargärten Thalkirchen. The Wasserspiele (Water Garden) project will be realised during the first phase of construction, which Vivico has developed together with the building contractor Infraplan, from Munich.

The Wasserspiele construction project involves the creation of 51 high-quality owner-occupied apartments, 70 percent of which have already been sold. The sale of the apartments began in June 2009. It is anticipated that building will be completed at the beginning of 2011. Infraplan is in charge of marketing the apartments.
The apartments have between 2 and 5.5 rooms and an area of approx. 560 to 2,476 ft². They have been constructed in accordance with the KfW-60-Standard (German building construction standard) and surpass the targets of the current Energieeinsparverordnung (German Energy Saving Ordinance) by over 30 percent. In addition, the residential buildings get their energy exclusively from decentralised geothermal and solar thermal systems. The architecture of the apartments in the Wasserspiele project was designed by the architects Hilmer & Sattler und Albrecht and Baehr-Rödel.
In a second construction phase, Vivico will develop and realise a further 37 high-quality apartments in cooperation with CONCEPT BAU - PREMIER under the name Lichtblicke (Bright Spots). The architecture for these apartments has been designed by GKK+Architekten. Construction for the Lichtblicke project is set to begin at the end of 2009. CONCEPT BAU - PREMIER is in charge of marketing the apartments.
The Isargärten Thalkirchen district in Munich is a new, high-quality urban district encompassing a space of around 484,376 ft² directly by the Mühlbach stream and in immediate proximity to the Isarauen park. Alongside the 11 residential buildings with a total of 88 apartments, loft office space will be created in the south of the district in former engine sheds, which are now under a preservation order. In the north of the district, a further residential and office building will be constructed adjacent to the newly designed Thalkirchner Platz (Thalkirchner Square). In the centre of the area, a large green space measuring around 215,278 ft² and consisting of a park and biotope, will round off the district.
