Frank Wiethoff, Regional Head of KPMG gives his reasons for the rental in Europacity: “We chose this location because a striking new quarter is rapidly emerging here, right in the heart of the city. KPMG has thus been able to secure future-oriented offices in a central and prestigious location. We are also convinced that we have made the right decision in the interests of our employees.”

KPMG is combining several of the company’s service departments at this location, including the company’s internal IT service and the finance department. The building, which was designed by KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten Berlin, is situated right next to the Tour Total on Heidestraße and not far from Berlin Central Station. The new seven-storey building will have a total of around 14,300 m² of gross floor space and three underground levels with parking. Construction of the building is expected to begin in autumn 2015 and KMPG is scheduled to move in at the end of 2017. Jones Lang LaSalle Berlin acted as agent and consultant.

As with all of CA Immo’s new developments, this building will also adhere to strict sustainability criteria as a Green Building. In addition to an optimised energy concept and the preferential use of local building materials, there will also be charging stations for electric vehicles and several covered bicycle storage areas.

Europacity is a new urban, mixed-use quarter, currently being built on an area of approximately 40 ha. As the principal owner of the land, CA Immo has promoted the development of the site in close cooperation with State of Berlin. At the same time, CA Immo has already constructed several buildings on the site, such as the Tour Total tower and the InterCityHotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof. The John F. Kennedy Haus and Monnet 4 are two further office buildings which are currently nearing completion. In addition, further companies such as Strauss + Partner, 50Hertz, Groth and Ernst Basler + Partner have acquired land from CA Immo for the construction of office and hotel buildings as well as residential buildings, most of which are currently under construction or have been completed.
