Christine Falck-Kocur - Asset Manager

You started working for CA Immo back in 2009 - although in a different position. How did your career at CA Immo progress to your current role as an asset manager?

Ultimately, it was a fortunate coincidence that I ended up in the real estate industry. My journey at CA Immo began back in 2009, when I was originally hired as a trained hospitality receptionist through a temporary employment agency. By 2011, however, I had become a permanent member of the CA Immo team.

However, I found the real estate world exciting right from the start. CA Immo, in turn, supported my interest and my desire for new challenges and so I was able to gradually expand my area of responsibility in addition to taking care of guests. For example, I was able to support the asset management team with the letting process over a longer period of time. This gave me a good insight into the tasks that you can take on as an asset manager. In 2015, I was able to take responsibility for my first property - with everything that entails. After that, it was clear to me that I wanted to develop further in this direction. Since 2017, I have been a permanent member of the asset management team in Berlin after completing appropriate training and further education. To further deepen my expertise, I completed a further training course in property management from 2018 to 2019, which I successfully completed.

Why did you decide to work in asset management at CA Immo?

I find it interesting that we have a broadly diversified portfolio at CA Immo. This includes both new properties, such as the Grasblau office building, which was developed in-house and was completed in 2022, and historic buildings, such as the Königliche Direktion - an office building in the neo-Renaissance style. We have different ideas and options for each of these buildings to increase their value and attractiveness for our tenants.

As an owner's representative, you don't just manage the property, you play a key role in shaping its entire life cycle. This begins with the development of a new-build project and continues through marketing, letting and re-letting to possible revitalisation to ensure that the property remains attractive. This requires working with almost all departments of CA Immo as well as managing external service providers such as property management and facility managers.  And it is precisely this diversity that makes my work so interesting. Of course, i am particualry pleased when I hear from tenants how comfortable they feel in our properties and how much they value CA Immo as a landlord.

What projects and successes are you particularly proud of?

I am proud of my professional development over the past few years. Thanks to a lot of ambition and self-discipline, I have managed the balancing act between family, further education and my full-time job and have found a profession that gives me pleasure, presents me with new challenges every day and in which I can actively make a difference.

As far as professional successes are concerned, I don't want to commit myself to any particular project, as we can only achieve what we set out to do as a team. A wide variety of people from different departments contribute to every project or success. Every employee is part of the picture.

If you were to ask me which of our properties I like best, it would definitely be Grasblau in Berlin. The building was constructed as a green building and the focus was on sustainability from the planning stage right through to operation. The highlight of the building are the balconies on each floor and the large roof terrace. In the centre of the city and yet surrounded by greenery.

What do you value about CA Immo as an employer?

What I particularly appreciate about CA Immo as an employer is that I am given the opportunity to constantly develop, both on a personal and professional level. On the one hand, this is achieved through the wide range of tasks, but also through training courses, exchanges with other departments and further training opportunities. I would also like to mention the flexibility that allows me to balance family and career.
